Summer Comes to a Close
It’s occurred to me this morning that I haven’t posted an update to the site in awhile. While I wish this delinquency had something to do with days spent at the lake, or general laziness, the fact is that I am stuck inside the same hectic schedule I seem to have every year at this time. From now until December is often the busiest time of year as clients return from holidays wanting to get things done before the leaves change colour. This is then followed by the pre-Christmas chaos of clients trying to clear budgets before fiscal year-end. No matter, I do my best work under pressure.
While much of my work is contractually done under some secrecy, I can tell you that I am in the process of developing a large social network, potentially 15,000 members strong, using an open source application called Elgg. Think of it like a Facebook/MySpace mashup, without all the intrusive apps and tacky backgrounds. I am also working on smaller websites for a golf equipment manufacturer and an HIV/AIDS coalition. Sprinkled is there is an audit of Squarespace, ongoing work for maintenance clients, and even the design of an annual report, just to keep my print design chops in shape.
Nice to be busy. I’ll come up for air when the snow starts flying.
Truth be told, I don’t blog often, but when I do you can read it here. Generally you will find the odd post about a particular piece of technology or useful web application that’s caught my eye.
